Models

Olivia

Olivia is the dancer that I asked to dance in my music video. She is a friend who goes to my school, she is in the year below. I asked her to dance in my music video as I know she has been dancing for a long time and therefore know she will be capable of dancing the way I ask her to. Olivia does Street Dance/Hip Hop as her main dancing genre but has also did Ballet and Tap dance in the past. She learns dances to songs with choreography in her free time - meaning her dancing capability is very broad.

Martyna

Martyna is a friend who goes to Henley College. She used to be involved with The Lighthouse Theatre - which is a volunteering organisation where you can help out in certain areas. Martyna was involved in the Drama sector of the programme and found it really enjoyable.

Eleanor

Eleanor is also a friend who goes to Henley College. One of her A-levels is Drama - which she loves and says is one of her favourite subjects. Eleanor is a natural in front of the camera and loves acting and says that for her it is 'an escape from reality'. She loves being able to portray another character as you are then able to see yourself from other people's perspectives.

Contacting the models

The people that I asked to help me for my coursework are close friends - this being the reason that the messages exchanged are so casual. I asked two people to act in the music video - Eleanor and Martyna, and someone to be my dancer - Olivia.

Mood Board

When I think of dance music, I think of upbeat music with people dancing at a festival or concert. I think of DJ's such as Zedd, David Guetta and Avicii - who are known for their upbeat music and they then collaborate with singers to produce dance music. I also think of all the different genres of dance, from Jazz to Ballet, from Contemporary to Hip Hop. I also think of bright colours that people use to express themselves.

This is reflected via my Mood Board through my pictures of the DJ's I have mentioned above. I have attached pictures of the main genres of dance and people doing those dances. Along with pictures of colour and people dancing - to show how I think of an upbeat environment with people dancing and having a good time.

Brief Timeline of Music Video

Here is a brief timeline of my planning for the Music Video component of my coursework.

In September I planned to spend some time planning what I wanted out of the music video. The concept, the story line, the actresses I'd use and what song I wanted to use.

In October I then planned to film with my actors/actresses in a location. I originally wanted to film in London but with the costs and logistics, it wasn't possible.

In November I planned to edit the footage I'd shot in October, organising it and choosing the chips I wanted to use.

December is the month to film with my dancer, getting the last bit of footage under my belt to work with later that month.

Editing, finalising and sorting was January's plan. Getting everything edited together and finalising effects and any last things I needed to organise.
